Short Curly Hair
Short Curly Hair
Do you sport short curly hair? If yes then you understand the importance of taking excellent care of your crowning glory. Short curly hair has plenty of challenges and this is something that you must always keep in mind, especially during the summer when frizz (the greatest enemy of curly hair) is at its height.
When it comes to setting short curly hair to get frizz-free curls, always comb it with your fingers. Then begin at the crown of your head and gather hair into a number of sections. Figure out how wide you want your curls to be by measuring them against the width of your fingers. Allow some sections of your hair to fall wherever they choose to. Help them along by giving them a gentle tug. Take other sections of hair and twist them tightly, making sure that you do not hurt either your head or end up pulling out any hairs. There is no need to pin or clip your hair if you are careful to follow directions carefully.
Next is it time to do something about your forehead area. Take tendrils of your hair and move them forward onto your forehead and also encourage them to fall down gracefully. If you want the top of your hair to have more distinction and to be voluminous then take five or six tendrils at the crown and crisscross them.
Now it is time to allow your short curly hair to set dry in the natural way. This should take approximately 10 minutes or thereabouts. Once the 10 minutes have elapsed, use your blow-dryer with the diffuser attachment and set it on warm and then on the cool setting once you get closer to the end. Another option if it is available to you is to sit under a heat lamp until your hair is almost dry. Do not sit too long however. Your short curly hair will not benefit from losing all of its moisture content!
If frizzy hair is what you have ended up with despite your good intentions then use leave-in conditioner after you shampoo your hair and blow dry your hair as straight as possible. Once that is done you can then use hot rollers or a large barrelled curling iron to give your out of control curls a softer more feminine look.
Talk to your hair stylist about what products are most appropriate for you. You might need to use more or less of a given product in relation to the seasons and the temperature.
